Cochrane reviews provide reliable, systematic reviews of researches conducted world wide. It is extremely helpful in summarizing the results of various studies conducted on a particular topic and immensely helps in practicing fair, evidence based medicine. It is free of any bias, sponsorships or conflicts of interest.

I can recall a few instances where Cochrane was found to be quite helpful by my colleagues. One of my colleagues who was developing a faculty development program for a prominent medical school in India mentioned the remarkable leverage they received by using Cochrane. They took guidance through Cochrane during program designing as well as during the implementation phase. I also received great reviews for Cochrane from my post-graduate students who used it extensively throughout their research, publication and thesis work.

I would like to especially appreciate the workshops that Cochrane started, to familiarize post graduate students and teaching faculty towards research methodologies. Few such workshops were conducted at some of the premium medical colleges in India which I also attended. It led to a noticeable increase in both quality and quantity of the research work done in those medical colleges.

I admire the great work done by the Cochrane team as it is helping to reshape the research and academic activities within the medical community in India and in the rest of the world. I also wish that through their new initiatives, they reach wider medical community in a way which is helpful for the patients in the end.
